Day 2: What You Wore Today

In the 30 Day Photo Challenge series ...

Kyrie

Anna

Technically, I took Kyrie's picture for her, partly because she's still having trouble getting things lined up right when using the 10-second delay, but mostly because she wanted the side/tall shot of herself, in order to minimize there being a lot of stuff on the side in her shot, and the camera doesn't lie flat on its side in order for her to be able to set it down and aim for the delay shot. I am impressed by her thinking through what looks good in a shot and trying to frame the subject material accordingly. She made sure her hair was brushed; she did those braids herself; she tried out a shot with a more cluttered background and then picked this one instead.

I was pleased that the idea came to me of folding my clothes up, because I admit I was afraid that any sort of full shot of "what I wore today" would only serve to emphasize how, um, large I am. It's difficult to make a cute shot out of just clothes. It might have been better if I'd worn them, as Kyrie did, but let's face it, I'm not as cute as my daughter anyhow. As for learning anything, I think I learned that the "flower" mode, "for use in close-up conditions under bright light", does not produce good results on close-ups in my somewhat dim bedroom. The standard auto mode produced better results than that. If there is a setting that does well with close-ups in dim conditions, I don't know what it is.

  1. Good job Kyrie and Anna!! I am also very indecisive about whether or not I would want to be wearing the clothes. Also, I think I may have said this before, and I noticed someone on FB said it too, but Kyrie looks like Cathy who looks like pictures I have seen of your mom. I don't always notice family resemblences so strongly, that is fun.
